Matthew 25:14-30 tells the parable of the kingdom of God being compared to a man going away on a trip and giving capital to his servants – 5 talents, 2 talents and 1 talent, respectively (talents were a form of currency back then). The master gave the servants talents “depending on their abilities”. So he knew what each servant was capable of handling and gave them capital that he knew they could multiply.
I find it instructive that when the master returned, he didn’t compare the returns on investment (R.O.I) from each servant. What he got from the first two servants was 100% and that was what mattered. It didn’t matter that 100% for servant A was 5 talents while 100% for servant B was 2 talents. Read more →
